Recently, the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand has received some inquiries from some local media regarding the issue of situation of Chinese migrant workers, and the head of Economic and Commercial Section of the Embassy responds as follows:

The Chinese Embassy in New Zealand has always attached great importance to the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese overseas workers. We provide necessary assistance to overseas workers facing difficulties and support them in upholding their legitimate rights and interests through legal channels.

Not long ago, the Chinese Embassy and Consulates issued a notice, reminding Chinese workers to raise their awareness of precautions and seek employment in New Zealand through legal channels. Recently, we have received some requests for help from workers, and necessary and appropriate assistance has been provided.

At the same time, we have also noticed that the New Zealand government has been working to further protect rights and interests of overseas workers and strengthened the scrutiny of local accredited employers.

We will continue to keep a close eye on this issue and extend assistance and support to affected workers. We appreciate the attention given by the local media and look forward to working with all walks of life in New Zealand to jointly promote rights and interests of Chinese overseas workers.
