HE Ambassador Wang Xiaolong meets with the National President of New Zealand China Friendship Society

On April 25, 2022, HE Ambassador Wang Xiaolong met with David Bromwich, National President of New Zealand China Friendship Society (NZCFS).

Ambassador Wang appreciated the long-standing contribution of the NZCFS to the development of China-New Zealand relations, and specially thanked Mr David Bromwich for his efforts to enhance the friendship between the two peoples as President of the NZCFS. 

Ambassador Wang pointed out that since the establishment of  diplomatic ties between China and New Zealand, the two sides have carried out practical cooperation in the spirit of mutual respect, mutual understanding, mutual benefit and win-win results, seeking common ground while reserving differences, and realized momentous development in bilateral relations. Last November, President Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. Both leaders agreed to continue promoting the healthy and stable development of China New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, charting the course for the development of bilateral relations. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and New Zealand, the 70th anniversary of the founding of the NZCFS, and the 125th anniversary of the birth of Rewi Alley. The Chinese Embassy is ready to work with the NZCFS to draw upon the useful experience in and explore good ideas for promoting people-to-people friendship and accumulate supportive forces to galvanize the bilateral relations for tomorrow.

Mr Bromwich extended warm welcome to Ambassador Wang and appreciated the close communication and friendly cooperation between the Embassy and the NZCFS. He also gave a briefing about NZCFS and its key programs in the pipeline. He expressed the willingness to grasp the opportunities of anniversary celebrations to better introduce China and New Zealand-China relations to the various walks of life in New Zealand and enhance the friendship between the two peoples with a view to further promoting the bilateral relations.
