Huai Jinpeng meets with New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins

Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng met with New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins on the afternoon of August 16 2023 during his official visit to New Zealand.

Minister Huai expressed gratitude for the invitation from the New Zealand side and stated that this visit is expected to implement the important consensus reached during the meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Chris Hipkins, and promote pragmatic educational cooperation between China and New Zealand. 

Minister Huai emphasized that China's higher education has achieved significant development over the past decade. The Chinese government will continue to expand international openness of its education system, constantly broaden and deepen educational exchanges and cooperation with various countries around the world, including New Zealand.

Hipkins commended that his visit to China two months ago received a warm reception from the Chinese side, and he was deeply impressed by Chinese people’s sincerity and friendliness. He expressed confidence that Minister Huai's visit would undoubtedly achieve fruitful outcomes.

Wang Genhua, Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand, also attended the meeting.
