On September 27, the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand held a reception to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa. More than 400 guests joined the reception, including HE Deborah Geels, Deputy Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand, Hon Sir David Carter, Former Speaker of Parliament in New Zealand, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives from Chinese community.

In his opening remarks, Chinese Ambassador to New Zealand Wang Xiaolong introduced the historic achievements of China's development since the founding of New China 74 years ago, especially in the new era, elaborated on the connotations and global significance of the Chinese Path to Modernization, as well as his full confidence in the prospect of China’s economy, and expressed China's willingness to work with the New Zealand side to implement the latest consensus reached by the two countries at the highest level and take the China-New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to new hights.

On behalf of the New Zealand government, HE Deborah Geels sent greetings to the Chinese people and said New Zealand is ready to build on the Joint Statement on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, abide by the one-China policy and expand cooperation with China in various fields.
