On November 14, 2023, together with a Chinese delegation led by the Executive Vice Governor of Zhejiang Province Mr. Xu Wenguang, HE Ambassador Wang Xiaolong attended the Wellington Zhejiang Business Roundtable and delivered opening remarks.  The event gathered speakers from local councils and business communities of both sides, including Mayor of Palmerston North Grant Smith, Mayor of Upper Hutt Wayne Guppy, Mayor of Lower Hutt Campbell Barry, and representatives of Wellington Phoenix and Zhejiang Tourism Investment Group. The event was full of lively discussions centered around cooperation between Zhejiang Province and the Greater Wellington region in trade, sports, people-to-people exchanges, among others.

After the event, HE Ambassador Wang joined the delegation to meet with Mayor of Wellington Tory Whanau. Both sides expressed their willingness to take this visit as a new starting point to further expand the scope of cooperation and deepen mutual friendship between the two regions.

In 2012, Zhejiang Province and the Greater Wellington region entered into a strategic economic partnership. As the two regions share economic complementarity while having their own strengths, the prospect for bilateral cooperation is promising in a range of areas including agriculture, tourism, filming, sports.
