Ambassador Wang Xiaolong Attends the Lunar New Year Event at NZ Parliament

On 12 February,  Ambassador Wang Xiaolong attended the Lunar New Year Event at New Zealand Parliament held by the Ministry for Ethnic Communities and delivered a speech. New Zealand Prime Minister Rt Hon Christopher Luxon, ministers, MPs and representatives from the Chinese community also attended the event. Prime Minister Luxon appreciated the contributions made by Asian communities to local economic, social and cultural development, extended wishes of the Year of Dragon and said that the government will work hard to further improve the wellbeing of Asian communities.

Ambassador Wang expressed best wishes for the Spring Festival, hoping and trusting that the care and support for the Chinese community from all walks of life in New Zealand will continue. Ambassador Wang looked back on the achievements of China’s development and the contribution China has made to building a community with a shared future for mankind in the past year .He said that China will steadfastly advance Chinese Modernization and at the same time, work with other countries to tackle common challenges to achieve common prosperity. 

Ambassador Wang stressed that the nature of China-New Zealand relationship is mutually beneficial, its foundation is mutual respect and mutual trust, and its future depends on the common efforts from both sides. It is hoped that the two sides can take the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership as an opportunity, carry forward the spirit of “striving to be the first” and join hands to take the bilateral relationship to progressively higher levels.
