Ambassador Wang Xiaolong meets Hon Tai Tura, Speaker of the Cook Islands Parliament

On March 7 local time, HE Ambassador Wang Xiaolong paid a call on Hon Tai Tura, Speaker of the Cook Islands Parliament to exchange views on the China-Cook Islands relations.

In the conversation, Ambassador Wang conveys the regards of HE Li Zhanshu, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China to Hon Tura. Ambassador Wang takes it as his great privilege to be appointed Ambassador to the Cook Islands at the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties. According to Ambassador Wang, in the past 25 years, the two sides have made joint efforts to promote the steady development of the bilateral relations, featuring frequent high level exchanges, ever-deepening practical cooperation, and ever-enriching people to people communications, which have brought about tangible benefits to the two countries and peoples and laid solid foundation for furthering the friendship and cooperation. China appreciates the active contribution that the various political parties of the Cook Islands Parliament have made to promoting the bilateral relations. The two legislatures should take the opportunity of the 25th anniversary to engage each other with more dialogues and exchanges with a view to pushing the China-Cook Islands Comprehensive Strategic Partnership featuring mutual respect and common development to a new level.

Hon Tura welcomes Ambassador Wang to assume his new posting and requests him to extend his best wishes to Chairperson Li Zhanshu. Highly commending the development of the Cook Islands-China relations and in full support of the Cook Islands government’s engagement with China, Speaker Tura expresses the willingness of the Cook Islands Parliament to have more exchanges and communications with the National People’s Congress of China for the purpose of building consensus for promoting the bilateral relations.
