On February 9 2022, His Excellency Ambassador Wang Xiaolong presented the Working Copies of Letters of Credence to His Excellency Fisa Igilisi Pihigia, High Commissioner of Niue to New Zealand.

Ambassador Wang states that China attaches great importance to developing relations with Niue. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Niue, the bilateral relations has continued to develop under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries. In the collective meeting between President Xi Jinping and the leaders of the Pacific Island Countries with diplomatic ties with China, the bilateral relations were upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership featuring mutual respect and common development, which ushered the China-Niue relations into an all-round cooperation era. The first China-Pacific Islands Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in 2020 also provides new opportunities for deepening China-Niue cooperation. China appreciates Nice's firm adherence to the One-China principle. China would like to take the opportunity of the 15th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties with Niue to fully implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthening exchanges and cooperation to push for more progresses in the bilateral relations.

On behalf of the Niue government, High Commissioner Pihigia welcomes Ambassador Wang Xiaolong on starting the tenure of Ambassador to Niue, and indicates that Niue attaches great importance to developing relations with China. Niue firmly adheres to the One-China policy and looks forward to strengthening exchanges and deepening practical cooperation with China, and jointly promoting the bilateral relations for greater progress to better benefit the two peoples. The Niue High Commission in New Zeanland would be happy to play an active role to that end.
