Xi Jinping Meets with President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj of Mongolia

On May 19, 2014, President Xi Jinping met with President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj of Mongolia in Shanghai.

Xi Jinping said, China and Mongolia are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers. The two countries should be good neighbors, good friends and good partners, supporting each other for core interests and major concerns. China respects Mongolia for its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, as well as choosing the development path conform to its own national conditions. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between the two countries and the Year of China-Mongolia Friendly Exchanges. The two sides have held grand commemorative activities that have received warm responses from the two countries and two peoples. The bilateral relations enjoy a sound development momentum.

Xi Jinping stressed, I pay high attention and attach great importance to the China-Mongolia relations. Leaders of the two countries should maintain close contacts and strategic communication to promote bilateral cooperation in a tangible manner. The two countries should also strengthen exchanges between legislative bodies, political parties and armed forces. China and Mongolia are highly complementary economically. China conducts cooperation with Mongolia in the principles of mutual benefits and win-win results, never do as "one wins and the other loses" nor as "one wins more and the other gets less". China is willing, by the principle of "Three-in-One Overall Promotion" for mineral resources exploitation, infrastructure construction and financial cooperation, giving priority to the construction of connectivity, taking the opportunity of building the Silk Road Economic Belt, to expand bilateral cooperation and encourage competent Chinese enterprises to invest and develop in Mongolia. China supports Mongolia to actively participate in international and regional affairs, and is willing to strengthen cooperation with Mongolia within the frameworks of the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and others.

Elbegdorj said that the concept of "amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness" in neighborhood policy put forward by President Xi Jinping is the important guidance and provides important opportunities for the Mongolia-China relations and regional cooperation. Mongolia is committed to working together with China to set the Mongolia-China relations as an example for country-to-country relations in the region. Elbegdorj invited President Xi Jinping to pay a state visit to Mongolia at an early date. Mongolia thanks China for taking care of the interests of Mongolia to the full extent and will continue to firmly support China on the Taiwan-related issues, Tibet-related issues and others. Mongolia is willing to well implement the consensus and agreements reached by the two sides, strengthening cooperation in the fields of minerals, electricity and infrastructure construction. Mongolia hopes to strengthen communication and coordination with China on international and regional affairs and wishes the CICA summit in Shanghai a success.
