On February 26, in the Hockey World Super League held in Wellington, the Chinese women's hockey team defeated the host team New Zealand, which is currently ranked ninth in the world, 5:2, marking the perfect end for the Super League in Wellington. Wang Genhua, the Minister Counselor watched the match at the scene. After the match, he celebrated the victory with the players and delivered a speech of condolences. Military Attaché Zhao Quan also attended the event.

 On behalf of Ambassador Wang Xiaolong, Minister Counselor Wang first welcomed the National Women's Hockey Team to New Zealand to participate in the World Super League and congratulated the team on their excellent results.

Minister-Counselor Wang said that the Chinese National Women's Hockey Team is the first Chinese national-level sports team to visit Wellington since the reopening of the border between the two countries, which means the resumption of face-to-face sports exchanges between China and New Zealand. Last year, China and New Zealand jointly celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The Chinese embassy in New Zealand made the first day cover and badge for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. On behalf of the embassy, Minister Wang presented them to the national team members as a souvenir.

Minister Counselor Wang hoped that the team's next training camp in Australia will be successful and complete, and that they will achieve great results in this year's Hangzhou Asian Games and next year's Paris Olympics. After the event, Minister Counsellor Wang and team members took a group photo. 

The Wellington competition is the second stop of the International Competition of Chinese Women’s Hockey Team. During the 8 days, the girls played two games with the New Zealand team and the US team respectively. In the two games against the New Zealand team, the Chinese Women's Hockey team won all; in the two matches against the US team, the Chinese Women's Hockey team won one and lost one, and both achieved the best record this year.
