On June 21, Ambassador Wang Lutong met with Asia New Zealand Foundation’s Executive Director Simon Draper at the Foundation’s headquarters in Wellington.

Mr Draper briefed Ambassador Wang on the Asia New Zealand Foundation, and expressed his gratitude for the Embassy’s support of the Foundation. Mr Draper noted that the Asia New Zealand Foundation engages in projects relating to cultural, business, education, youth leadership and media to enhance the New Zealand public’s understanding of Asia. China and New Zealand shared common objectives in these fields, with considerable scope for cooperation. Mr Draper hoped the two sides could work together in the future, with new achievements.

Ambassador Wang noted that with the deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and New Zealand, bilateral pragmatic cooperation in various fields had been strengthened with increasing non-governmental exchanges between the two countries in the cultural, education and business sectors. Ambassador Wang hoped that the Asia New Zealand Foundation, with its professional background and extensive experience in related fields, could work with China to continue expanding the depth and breadth of cooperation, providing more platforms and resources to further strengthen cultural and business exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

Deputy Executive Director of Asia New Zealand Foundation Adele Mason, Director of Engagement and Research, Pip McLachlan and Director of the Chinese Embassy’s Cultural Section Shen Ming also attended the meeting.
