On July 21, Mr. Qu Guangzhou, Political Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand met with 19 delegates from the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL). The delegates were visiting New Zealand’s Victoria University, based in Wellington, to engage in study and exchange activities. Mr. Jason Young and Mr. Duncan Campbell from Victoria University’s International Exchange Programme joined the meeting. Other attendees included Mr. Shen Ming, Director of Cultural Section of the Embassy.

Counsellor Qu warmly welcomed the delegation and briefed the students and teachers on bilateral relations and cooperation between China and New Zealand in the fields of politics, economy, trade, culture and education. Counsellor Qu affirmed the positive significance of the regular exchanges between CUPL and Victoria University. He encouraged the students to cherish the exchange opportunity, which enabled them to play the role of people-to-people friendship messengers and contribute to further advancing cultural and educational exchanges between the two peoples. Counsellor Qu wished the exchange programme great success.

Associate Professor Ren Hongsheng, head of the exchange delegation, noted that the delegation’s students wanted to gain an in-depth understanding of New Zealand’s politics, history, culture and laws through the exchange, enabling them to lay a solid foundation for their future studies, and to play an active role in the development of friendship between China and New Zealand.
