From May 2 to 4, a delegation from the General Administration of Press and Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) of China, led by the Vice Minister, Mr.Wu Shangzhi, paid a friendly visit to New Zealand.

On May 2, Ambassador Wang Lutong met with the delegation and extended his warm welcome. Ambassador Wang hoped that the delegation's visit could promote exchanges between China and New Zealand in the field of press and publication to a new level, and further expand the trading channels of cultural products, including book and digital publications. Mr. Wu briefed Ambassador Wang on the purpose of the visit and the cooperative status and future plans for the book publishing industry between China and New Zealand.

During the visit to Wellington, the delegation met with Stephen Wainwright, Chief Executive Officer of Creative New Zealand. The two sides exchanged views and reached consensuses on a range of cooperative initiatives, including the further strengthening of exchanges in the publishing industry, the expansion of bilateral exchanges, the promotion of cooperation between leading publishing companies of the two countries, the establishment of a Chinese / English translation platform by joint efforts and the structuring of a digital publication platform.

Vice Minister Wu and the delegation also met with renowned New Zealand sinologists Duncan Campbell, Peter Harris, Jason Young and Luo Hui to discuss the Project of Writing on China by Foreigners.

During the visit to Auckland, the delegation visited the New Zealand Eunoia Publishing Group. The two sides exchanged views on the further strengthening of cooperative projects between the publishing companies of the two countries.
