HE Ambassador Wang Xiaolong Meets with Niuean Premier and Foreign Minister Hon Dalton Tagelagi

On November 21 local time in Niue, Chinese Ambassador to Niue Wang Xiaolong had an audience with Premier and Foreign Minister of Niue Hon Dalton Tagelagi in Alofi, and exchanged views on China-Niue relations.

In the conversation, Ambassador Wang Xiaolong conveys the warm regards of Chinese leaders to Premier Tagelagi. Ambassador Wang says that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Niue, and since 2007, China-Niue relations have always maintained healthy development, bringing tangible benefits to the two countries and peoples. China appreciates Niue’s long-term adherence to the one-China principle. The two countries have always understood and supported each other on issues related to core interests and major concerns of one another. 

Ambassador Wang says that the successful convening of the 20th National Congress of the CPC not long ago has charted a blueprint for China's development in the next 5 years, 10 years and beyond. The Report of the Congress makes it clear that China will advance the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization. Chinese modernization is the modernization of a huge population, the modernization of common prosperity for all, the modernization of material and cultural-ethical advancement, the modernization of harmony between humanity and nature, and the modernization of peaceful development. The modernization of 1.4 billion Chinese people will bring new opportunities to all developing countries, including Niue. In terms of foreign policy, the Report points out that guided by the principles of sincerity, real results, affinity, and good faith and with a commitment to the greater good and shared interests, China endeavors to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with other developing countries and safeguard the common interests of the developing world. China is willing to work with Niue to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen cooperation under Belt and Road Initiative and other frameworks, deepen communication and coordination on international and regional issues, and work jointly to ensure the key celebrations of 15th anniversary a great success, so as to deepen friendship and cooperation between the two countries and make new contributions to international and regional peace, stability and prosperity.

Premier Tagelagi kindly requests Ambassador Wang to convey his best wishes to the Chinese leaders and welcomes Ambassador Wang to visit Niue again to celebrate the 15th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, which showcases the importance China attaches to Niue-China relations. Niue congratulates on the successful convening of 20th Congress of the CPC, and respects the development path chosen by the Chinese people and the independent foreign policy of peace  long practiced by China. The Niue government and people would like to thank the Chinese government and people for the selfless help they have provided to Niue for a long time, and are willing to further strengthen practical cooperation with China in infrastructure, economy and trade, tourism among other fields, so as to further promote China-Niue relations at a new stage.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
