Notice on Reopening of the Consular (Visa) Section

Starting from Wednesday, 1 February, 2023, the consular (Visa) Section of the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand will open to the public.

1. Office hours

Monday to Friday 9am – 11:30am, and 2pm – 4pm. The office closes to the public on Tuesday and Friday afternoons.

2. Consular Service

Passport and Travel Document

All passport and travel document applications will be resumed. If you have previously made an appointment for the passport submission prior to 1 February 2023, we will contact you and make arrangement for the appointment via email.

Visa Applications

Appointments for Chinese visa submission at the office will be resumed. Between 1 February and 15 February, you have the option to book an appointment online for visa submission at the office or submit your application via post or courier service. Starting from 16 February, you must book an appointment online for visa submission and have your fingerprints collected at the office, and the visa submission via post or courier service are no longer accepted unless you are exempted from collecting fingerprints. For more information, please visit How to Apply for Chinese Visa on the official website. 

Notarisation and Chinese Consular Legalisation

Notarisation service will be resumed. You must email us your documents and we will check your documents for the notarisation service before you come to visit the office. This will reduce the chance that your application for document notarisation being rejected due to missing documents or otherwise. 

Applications for Chinese Consular Legalisation can be submitted by visiting the office, or submit them via post or courier service.

Collection

You don’t have to return to the office to pay and collect your passport or documents. We will email you the payment instruction, please follow the instruction and pay your fee through online banking or bank transfer. Please provide a prepaid courier package with your application, and make sure to write down your full name, address and contact phone numbers on the package for returning your passport or documents.

3. COVID Prevention 

For the health and safety reason, you must wear a face mask at all time at the office. When asked by a staff member, please follow and cooperate the instruction at the waiting area.
