Dear Friend,

Tenā koe.

On 7 March, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Chinese and foreign media on the margins of the Third Session of the 14th National People’s Congress, taking questions on China’s foreign policy and external relations.

During the Press Conference, Foreign Minister Wang Yi elaborated on China’s stance on tariff wars, the Ukraine crisis, international order, the South China Sea, the Taiwan question, and other issues. Looking forward, China will, along with other countries, continue to defend international fairness and justice, safeguard world peace and stability, and promote common development and prosperity, providing certainty to this uncertain world.

Enclosed is the full text of the Press Conference, in which you may find more detailed illustrations of the goals of China’s diplomacy, the principles we follow, and the measures we take. Your thoughts and ideas are always welcome and I look forward to exchanging views with you on the issues involved.

Ngā mihi

Sincerely yours,

Wang Xiaolong

Chinese Ambassador to New Zealand (Cook Islands, Niue)
