Chinese painting and calligraphy are important artistic vehicles of Chinese civilization, embodying the view of nature and values, as well as the aesthetic standards of the Chinese nation, formed over thousands of years.
To deepen artistic exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and New Zealand civilizations, the“Embracing Diversity: CNAP International Art Dialogue Exhibition” will tour in Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, and Auckland from 27 August to 7 October, 2026. The exhibition is organized into four sections: “Observing the Way with a Clear Mind” ,“Figures in Myriad Forms”, “Scenery of the Four Seasons” and “Timeless Bronze and Stone Inscriptions”. Together, these sections showcase contemporary creative practices in Chinese landscape, figure, and bird-and-flower painting, alongside calligraphy and seal carving, tracing the evolution of these traditions from classical paradigms to present-day expressions. With brush and ink as the medium and dialogue as the bond, the exhibition presents the depth and dynamics of contemporary Chinese painting and calligraphy from multiple dimensions.
The exhibition is free of charge. We warmly welcome you to experience the exquisite beauty of Chinese art.
