On September 27 and October 19, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand hosted screening events of the film Evil Unbound-731 in Palmerston North and Wellington, respectively. Ambassador Wang Xiaolong attended the Wellington event and delivered remarks. More than 300 people, including Chinese students studying in New Zealand, representatives of the local Chinese community, and guests from both China and New Zealand, participated in the event.

Ambassador Wang noted that the atrocities committed by Unit 731 of the Japanese Army during its aggression against China were the darkest chapter of that war and a profound stain on the conscience of humanity. By watching the film, we do not intend to perpetuate hatred, but to draw lessons from history, strive tirelessly for national rejuvenation, and ensure that such tragedies never happen again.

The audience found the film thought-provoking, inspiring them to remember history and safeguard peace.
