The 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10. Under the theme of "New Era, Shared Future", this year's expo continues to demonstrate China's determination and confidence in pursuing open development. Against the backdrop of rising instability and uncertainty in the global economy, it highlights China's commitment to openness and encapsulates the keen anticipation of the world to share in China's development opportunities.
Since its inception, the CIIE has actively connected China with the world, continuously strengthening its role as a platform for international procurement, investment promotion, cultural exchange, and open cooperation. Its attributes as a global public good have become increasingly prominent. The first seven CIIEs have showcased approximately 3,000 new products, technologies, and services, with intended transactions exceeding $500 billion, attracting a cumulative total of 23,000 overseas exhibitors. China's vast market is being tangibly transformed into global opportunities.
More than 3,200 enterprises from over 110 countries and regions have confirmed their participation in the 8th CIIE, with contracted exhibition space exceeding 360,000 square meters. Many “new and old friends” will host debut events for their latest products and innovations, demonstrating their strong confidence in the vast Chinese market.
The past two years witnessed frequent high-level exchanges between China and New Zealand. President Xi Jinping has met with Prime Minister Luxon twice. Premier Li Qiang and Prime Minister Luxon have successfully exchanged visits. The two countries have reached a series of new consensuses with practical cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, climate change as well as people-to-people exchanges continuing to advance with a positive momentum. Over 60 New Zealand companies participated in the 7th CIIE, resulting in 24 cooperation agreements, which are expected to generate NZD 340 million in export revenue for New Zealand over three years.
At the 8th CIIE, major New Zealand export enterprises will once again participate in full, with several companies set to hold new product launches during the event. Even more noteworthy is the “Taste New Zealand” pavilion for small and medium-sized enterprises, organized by the China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand, which will feature 37 exhibitors this year, covering an area of over 1,000 square meters. Both the number of participating companies and the exhibition area have set new records once again.
We hope that New Zealand enterprises will make full use of the opportunities offered by the CIIE to further cultivate the Chinese market, achieve more fruitful results in practical cooperation, and contribute to elevating China–New Zealand trade and investment relations to a new level.
