On January 13, Ambassador Wang Xiaolong was invited to attend the opening ceremony of Men’s World Floorball Championships 2026 AOFC Qualification. More than 300 people attended the event, including Mayor of Wellington Andrew Little, President of Floorball New Zealand Andre Ballantyne, Event Manager of International Floorball Federation Sarah Mitchell, and representatives from diplomatic corps, the competing teams and people from all sectors of the community.

After the opening ceremony, Ambassador Wang met with the athletes from the China National Team and Hong Kong, China Team, encouraging them to compete with style and skill, and strive for the best achievements.

Ambassador Wang then watched the intense and exciting match between the China National Team and the New Zealand National Team. The tenacious fighting spirit displayed by the Chinese athletes drew waves of applause and heartfelt respect from the audience.

After the match, Ambassador Wang and Mayor Little jointly presented awards to the best-performing athletes from both China and New Zealand Teams, amid a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere.
