Embassy Officials Visit and Greet Overseas Chinese within Its Consular District

Since late February, Minister-Counsellor Xie Yongjun, Minister-Counsellor Zhang Xinyu, and Counsellor Tang Jun of the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand have each led delegations to visit and extend regards to overseas Chinese communities, Chinese students, and Chinese enterprises in Wellington, Tauranga, Rotorua, Napier, New Plymouth, Gisborne, and Palmerston North. They distributed gift packages to overseas Chinese in need and attended celebrations for the Year of the Horse organized by local Chinese community groups.

The Embassy officials engaged in cordial exchanges with members of the overseas Chinese community, listened attentively to their concerns and difficulties, and emphasized that the Embassy firmly upholds the people-centered philosophy by providing better consular services and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Chinese. They spoke highly of the role played by Chinese community and encouraged overseas Chinese to integrate well into the mainstream society and contribute to the multicultural harmony and development of friendship and cooperation between China and New Zealand.

Members of the overseas Chinese community expressed their gratitude, and stated that they would act as a bridge and link to further strengthen China–New Zealand relations.

The Embassy officials also met with mayors of the visiting cities.
