On September 1 local time, Qian Bo, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government for Pacific Island Affairs, met with Prime Minister Mark Brown of the Cook Islands while attending events related to the 55th Pacific Islands Forum in Koror, Palau. Qian Bo congratulated Prime Minister Brown on his successful re-election. Prime Minister Brown reaffirmed that the Cook Islands strongly endorse the one-China policy. The two sides spoke highly of the development of China-Cook Islands relations, and stated that they will work together to deepen political mutual trust and expand cooperation in various fields so as to better deliver benefits to the two peoples. The two sides also exchanged views on issues of common concern.
