On September 27, a Mid-Autumn Festival Gala for Chinese students and visiting scholars in Wellington was held at Victoria University of Wellington. Ms. Tang Jun, Counsellor for education, science and culture affairs, and Mr. Xu Tong, Director of the Wellington Chinese Culture Centre, attended the event. More than 300 Chinese visiting scholars and students in Wellington participated in the celebration.

On behalf of Ambassador Wang Xiaolong, Counsellor Tang extended warm greetings to the attendees. She said that the motherland cares deeply about Chinese scholars and students and encouraged them to integrate their personal growth with the development of the country and strive to become role models for serving the nation. She encouraged them to respect local culture, tell China's stories well, and serve as ambassadors of friendship between China and New Zealand. She also called on them to abide by local laws and regulations, strengthen their safety awareness, and pay attention to their physical and mental well-being, setting an example for safe and successful study and research abroad. The Chinese Embassy in New Zealand will work closely with local institutions to provide support and assistance to Chinese visiting scholars and students to ensure their safety and well-being during their time in New Zealand.

The gala featured a rich variety of performances, including instrumental music, vocal performances, dance and poem recitations. The performances celebrated China's achievements while expressing the participants' feelings of homesickness and longing for their homeland.
